Congress Takes on 70M Creators, NFT Marketplaces Evolve, & TikTok Resets the Rules of Luxury
In our 65th newsletter, we discuss how Congress is shifting its focus to 70 million U.S. creators, NFT marketplaces are evolving beyond collectibles, and TikTok's efforts to disrupt the luxury world.

🖼️ NFT Marketplaces Evolve

NFT marketplaces are giving creators real control over how they earn, share, and connect. Instead of relying on big platforms, creators can now mint their work as NFTs. These blockchain-based assets come with built-in scarcity, automatic royalties, and actual ownership.
What to Look for in an NFT Marketplace
Smart Contract Automation: Governs sales, royalties, and access control.
Multi-Wallet Support: Compatibility with Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, and others.
Creator Analytics: Insights into buyer behavior and asset performance.
Community Tools: Auctions, gated content, Discord integrations, and more.
NFTs are (and should be) about freedom, sustainability, and creator-first business models. Music, ebooks, digital art, online courses, and more can be tokenized and sold on creators’ terms.

A new UK-based study confirms what many digital creators already know: TikTok has redefined how luxury is discovered, discussed, and consumed. Today’s luxury shopper is scrolling, not window shopping, and it’s creators who are doing the curating as they are now the trusted tastemakers of modern luxury..
Why This Matters to Digital Creators
You are the storefront: 38% of TikTok users discover luxury brands through creator-led content.
You drive research: 32% of users look to creators to understand pricing, craftsmanship, and styling.
You fuel the resale boom: 1 in 4 shoppers credits TikTok with influencing second-hand luxury purchases.
You set the tone: Creator videos are now more trusted than traditional marketing in shaping what’s aspirational.
As luxury shifts from exclusivity to accessibility, creators are at the forefront. If you’re the one reviewing, reselling, or styling, you now hold the keys to a global industry.

🏛️ Congress Takes on 70M Creators
With over 70 million Americans now making money from videos, podcasts, and other digital content, Rep. Beth Van Duyne of Texas is urging Congress to recognize creators as a growth mechanism in the economy. Taking into account the global economy, that would then be 165 million new creators worldwide since 2020.
To support this massive shift, Van Duyne joined forces with Rep. Yvette Clarke of New York to launch the Congressional Creators Caucus. Their mission is simple: help creators turn their content into real businesses and teach lawmakers how the creator world actually works.
The global creator economy hit $250 billion in 2024 and could reach $480 billion by 2027, with the U.S. making up a huge slice. Despite this, many in Congress are still playing catch-up when it comes to data, privacy, and platform rules. Van Duyne is pushing for creators building businesses and audiences to have a real seat at the table.
