🏛️ Class Action Lawsuit Hits Passes

Lucy Guo founded and runs Passes, a platform for creators to share advice and more.

Lucy Guo, founder of Passes, is facing a class-action lawsuit alleging that she knowingly recruited underage girls to create and distribute explicit content on the platform. The lawsuit claims Guo personally intervened to override site restrictions, allowing minors to post content despite safeguards meant to protect them. Passes, which once marketed itself as "the tool to help creators become entrepreneurs," had raised nearly $50 million from reputable investors like Menlo Ventures.

This isn’t the first legal battle for Passes. In January 2024, rival monetization platform Fanfix sued the company for alleged unfair business practices, accusing Guo and co-founder Celestin of conspiring to steal confidential information to recruit creators. The latest lawsuit raises further concerns about Passes’ operations and its handling of safety measures.

Guo has denied all allegations, calling the lawsuit "utterly meritless" in a statement on X. She insisted she had “ZERO” interaction with the plaintiff and maintained that Passes acted swiftly on reports of illicit activity. She also distanced herself from Celestin, claiming he was never an agent or employee of the company. However, with mounting legal challenges, Passes faces increasing scrutiny over its business practices and platform security.

This is a sticky situation to say the least, Passes is undoubtedly going to spend immense time and resources on ensuring their creators don’t leave the platform, and that new creators who are considering joining are aligning with a safe (and most importantly law-abiding) company. We are not affiliated with Passes - and if what this suit alleges is true, are disgusted by the thought of it. We’ll follow this story closely and update as new information comes to light.

⚠️ Influencer Social Responsibility: It Matters

As influencers gain more cultural influence, their platforms have the power to do more than just promote products—they can drive real social impact.

Influencer Social Responsibility (ISR) helps creators align with meaningful causes, build trust with audiences, and forge authentic partnerships with brands that share their values.

Why it matters for digital creators:

  • Strengthens audience trust and credibility

  • Opens doors to brand deals with purpose-driven companies

  • Creates long-term influence beyond trends and sponsorships

  • Helps shape a more ethical and impactful creator economy

By using their platforms for good, creators can build deeper connections with their communities while shaping the future of social media. Influence isn’t just about reach—it’s about responsibility.
