Creatorland Platform Updates

A note from our CTO, Matt Schwarz

“At the beginning of this month we started reaching out to some creators from our waitlist to get their initial profiles set up. During the process it became immediately apparent that there were some opportunities for improving the experience that needed to be rolled out before we opened up more spots on Creatorland.

Projects have been completely overhauled
New custom widgets for creating detailed projects that include links to outside sites, rich previews, integrations with social, a redesigned cover image experience, and a beautiful display inside the portfolio on creator profiles

Onboarding Tooltips and Walkthrough
We heard that it wasn’t as intuitive as it could be to build your profile without more guidance, so we’ve created a slick onboarding system to help people become acquainted with the profile and tooltips throughout the app to make things clearer

Smart connection system that recommends new people to connect with from your contacts
We heard that it wasn’t intuitive to find people on Creatorland you should connect with, so we’ve developed a smart system that can identify creator economy contacts from Gmail accounts to help you rapidly connect with great contacts from your network, this works for both creators and professionals in the creator economy.

In addition to the above, we’ve introduced a variety of visual enhancements and layout enhancements to the user profile! Thanks so much for your patience as we unlock additional spots on our waitlist next week!”

The Latest from The Creator Economy

  • Montana actually bans TikTok?!
The state government of Montana has passed a law banning TikTok. The law, similar to the federal RESTRICT Act, allows lawmakers to restrict apps with ties to foreign adversaries. The ban is facing many legal challenges from TikTok itself and a group of creators who argue that it violates the First Amendment.

  • Meta lay-offs continue…
Meta, the ever-evolving company, has announced yet another round of layoffs, bidding adieu to approximately 6,000 more employees. It appears that this time the focus is on trimming the business side of operations. Surely they’re getting close to peak optimization?

  • More tech pros are pushing hard for AI security, maybe we should listen?
Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt warns that artificial intelligence (AI) poses existential risks and governments need to prevent its misuse by evil individuals. AIMLExchange™, a venture focused on balanced AI development, aims to integrate Air Force Research Laboratory intellectual properties (IPs) to advance human-driven technologies and empower users in collaboration with Silicon Valley.

  • Netflix vs you & the 11 other people on your friend’s Netflix account
Netflix is cracking down on password sharing and will charge extra for additional members using an account outside of the household. Subscribers on the Standard plan can add one extra member for $7.99 per month, while Premium plan subscribers can add up to two extra members for the same price.

  • Some notable YouTube creators are moving to a new platform- Nebula
Nebula is an independent video streaming service created by a group of popular YouTubers. It offers high-quality educational content in various subjects and has more than 150 recognized creators. While it provides exclusive videos and podcasts, its limited library and expensive classes make it more of a supplementary service rather than a primary documentary destination.

#1: Build Deeper Connections with Your Brand Contacts
We’ve noticed that the connection between brand contacts and creators often doesn’t go beyond a name & an email. The brands you worked with last year would have no idea if you recently collaborated with a competitor and drove a crowd to their product launch. Getting those moments in front of brands is what keeps you top of mind for their next collab.

Creatorland will allow you to showcase campaigns that you’ve worked on with full data reporting and an aesthetic report that capture the attention of your connections.

#2: Connect With Brands in a More Organic Way
How are you connecting with new brands right now? Cold email? No matter how amazing an offer is, people are immediately guarded when opening a email pitch. But a LinkedIn connection? Much better.

You can connect with brands on Creatorland the same way you would on LinkedIn and from there, your portfolio and posts can do the selling.

#3: Collaborate With Other Creators
What’s the fastest way to grow on social media? Creator collaborations. Getting in front of an audience that likes content similar to what you create.

You’ll be able to connect with creators by niche, audience size, overlapping collaborations, and more. There is so much power in connection- you can grow your audience fast by planning collabs on other creator’s social channels, you can easily see what other creators are doing that’s working for brand campaigns, and you can build a close-knit community in an otherwise lonely career.
