The Latest from The Creator Economy

  • Are you still vibing to Netflix via DVD?
Netflix is giving its DVD subscribers a farewell gift by sending up to 10 additional discs selected from users' queues before ending its 25-year-old DVD rental service.

  • 🎵 It’s a bad idea right? 🎵
While Olivia Rodrigo has only posted 5 TikToks to her new single, “Bad Idea Right?” has over 60,000 videos on TikTok since it’s pre-release date - August 11. Listen here.

  • Tired of your job? In-N-Out might pay more 🤷

Lynsi Snyder (owner of In-N-Out) reveals that the average pay for an In-N-Out store manager is over $180,000 🤯, which includes store profit-sharing. To put it in perspective, the annual mean wage for a restaurant food manager is around $60K.

  • YouTube is working to prevent health misinformation

YouTube is updating its medical misinformation policies, categorizing content under three categories: Prevention, Treatment, and Denial. This framework will enable YouTube to remove content that contradicts health authority guidance, with a particular focus on high-risk public health areas like cancer treatments that have been proven harmful or ineffective.

  • Gamers, this platform is for YOU!

FreshCut, a short-form video app founded by three Twitch alums, has garnered over two million visitors and a community of 130,000 content creators. The platform focuses on gaming content and aims to differentiate itself from competitors like Twitch by offering a generous revenue-sharing structure and a community-oriented approach with specific subcategories based on gaming franchises.

#1: Create content based on what you’re already doing (not what you think you should be.)

#2: A big part of content creation is consumption. Focus on watching content about what you want to talk about- always be learning in your niche.

#3: Quantity is key when you’re starting. The more you post, the more data you’ll have of what content themes perform best.

#4: Share your controversial views, it will make 50% of people love you more, and the other 50% will boost your video to insane heights with their comments.

$5: Give people a reason to follow you. The most common reason people follow you is to see more similar content- keep the tone of your content consistent and you’ll have people following for more.

#6: Tell stories. The easiest way to get people to watch your videos to the end is by telling stories that have people desperate to know the ending.

#7: Choose 3-5 topics that you love creating content about and cycle them throughout your content to create your personal brand.

#8: Show your face right as the video starts. It’s the most attention grabbing and engaging way to start a video.

#9: Get into a routine of consuming AND creating content daily. All the tips in the world can’t outperform daily action.

#10: Be honest. Share the good, share the bad, share the normal. People connect with real people with relatable lives.
