The Washington Post builds a creator network, a new way to hire creators on Creatorland, Cannes brings creators to the main stage and more...
In this edition: Cannes Marché launches its first creator summit, tech creators are treated like top-tier talent, and The Washington Post expands into a creator-led media network.

Introducing Creatorland Talent Solutions

We just launched something brands have been asking for: a free candidate management dashboard to help you manage your creator hiring pipeline.
Post a job, track applicants, move candidates through stages (New → Shortlisted → Negotiating → Hired), leave notes for your team, and see social profiles with follower counts—all in one place. No more spreadsheets, no more "did we already reach out to them?" conversations.
It's free, it's in beta, and access comes with every job post.
Cannes Brings Creators to the Main Stage

The Cannes Film Festival is officially opening its doors to creators, not just filmmakers.
For the first time ever, the Marché du Film is launching a dedicated Creator Economy Summit, signaling that digital creators are no longer adjacent to Hollywood… they are becoming part of it.
Instead of treating creators as marketing add-ons, Cannes is positioning them as core players in the future of film, with the summit focused on how creator-led IP, audiences, and distribution strategies can plug directly into traditional cinema.
Alongside the summit, Cannes is doubling down on tech with initiatives like the AI for Talent Summit and what it calls the largest virtual production stage ever at a film market, reinforcing how rapidly production and storytelling are evolving.
For creators, this is less about attending a film festival and more about entering a new pipeline.
What used to require agents, studios, and years of industry access is now being reshaped by audience ownership, distribution leverage, and digital-first storytelling.
Tech Creators Get VIP Treatment

A new management firm, Kernel, is launching specifically to represent tech creators, pairing them with brand deals, helping them build businesses beyond YouTube, and connecting them with a growing network of peers.
Instead of generalist talent agencies, this model is focused on deep vertical expertise, recognizing that creators in categories like AI, coding, and software require a different level of credibility and brand alignment.
Major AI companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Microsoft are pouring money into marketing, and increasingly turning to creators to explain and promote their products.
Some tech creators are now commanding $40,000 per video and seven-figure long-term partnerships, as brands compete for trusted voices in a rapidly evolving space.
What this means for digital creators
Niche is the new leverage. The more specialized your content, the more valuable you become to brands trying to reach specific audiences.
Brand budgets are shifting fast. Industries that traditionally spent on conferences and ads are now allocating millions directly to creators.
Credibility drives pricing power. In categories like tech, finance, and education, trust translates directly into higher deal sizes.
The takeaway: the next wave of top-earning creators won’t just be entertainers… they’ll be experts.
The Washington Post Builds a Creator Network
Instead of hiring talent and owning everything they produce, The Washington Post company is building a creator network where creators keep their IP, produce their own content, and co-publish across both their channels and The Post’s platforms.
Rather than large production budgets and fixed salaries, creators are paid to produce short series, typically 6 to 10 episodes, while also participating in sponsorship revenue from brands like Samsung.
In other words, media companies are starting to operate more like platforms… and less like studios.
As newsroom costs rise and traditional traffic declines, publishers are looking for new ways to reach audiences who increasingly trust and follow individual creators over institutions.
At the same time, creators get something equally valuable: distribution, credibility, and brand partnerships without giving up ownership of what they build.
The Post is still layering in its strengths. Creators are vetted, fact-checked, and supported by editorial standards, combining creator authenticity with institutional trust.
Instead of “hire talent, own content,” it becomes “partner with creators, share revenue, scale faster.”
