Accenture & Whalar Weigh In

When Accenture acquired creator agency Whalar, it wasn’t simply buying access to creators.
It was investing in the infrastructure behind the creator economy, from sourcing and measurement to campaign execution and long-term strategy.
The message was clear: creators are no longer an experimental marketing channel. They’re becoming a core part of how modern businesses operate.
That shift is reaching the highest levels of leadership. Accenture argues the creator economy is now a CEO conversation, influencing everything from product development and supply chains to brand building and customer relationships.
As traditional advertising continues to lose ground, executives are rethinking how companies stay culturally relevant in a world where creators increasingly shape consumer attention.
At the same time, the industry is finally gaining the measurement tools it has long lacked. Companies like Nielsen and Kantar are expanding beyond views and engagement to evaluate creators through brand lift, sales impact, and cultural influence, giving businesses more confidence to make creator marketing a permanent part of their strategy.
The brands that succeed over the next decade won’t simply hire creators for campaigns. They’ll build their businesses around them.
Travel Creators Scale Bookings

Travel creators are no longer being paid just to inspire trips. They’re being paid to drive bookings.
For years, brands measured creator partnerships by follower count and engagement. Today, they’re shifting toward performance-based models that reward creators for actual sales.
Cleartrip’s new Creators Club is one of the clearest examples, aiming to onboard more than 10,000 creators through an affiliate program where commissions are tied directly to travel bookings rather than flat sponsorship fees.
That same shift is playing out across the travel industry. Micro creators with just a few thousand followers are proving they can generate meaningful revenue, with one creator reportedly driving $30,000 in hotel bookings in just 60 days from a single affiliate campaign. For travel brands, conversion is replacing reach as the metric that matters most.
Why this matters for digital creators:
Performance is becoming the new currency. Brands increasingly care about bookings, purchases, and measurable revenue over follower counts alone.
Affiliate marketing is creating long-term income opportunities. Instead of relying solely on one-off sponsorships, creators can build recurring revenue by earning commissions every time their audience converts.
Smaller creators have never been more competitive. Strong engagement, trust, and the ability to influence purchasing decisions are giving micro creators opportunities that were once reserved for mega influencers.
The future of creator marketing may not belong to the creators with the biggest audiences. It may belong to those who can prove they drive business results.
The Next Wave of Creator Startups
The next great creator economy company might not have launched yet. It might still be a pitch deck.
Music Tectonics and the Yamaha Music Innovations Fund are opening this year’s Swimming with Narwhals competition to founders at the earliest possible stage, including startups that are pre-launch, pre-seed, or even just an idea. Rather than waiting for traction, investors are looking to identify promising entrepreneurs before they’ve built a product.
That reflects a broader shift across the creator economy.
As AI accelerates development and lowers the cost of building software, investors are placing greater emphasis on founders, vision, and market opportunity instead of polished products alone.
For many startups, the right introduction can matter as much as early revenue.
The creator economy’s next breakout company may not emerge from a billion-dollar funding round. It may begin with a five-minute pitch on stage.
