TikTok Teams Up with Cameo, AI Startups Smash Funding Records, and What’s Next for the Creator Economy
In this edition: TikTok expands into fan monetization through a new Cameo partnership, AI companies raise record-breaking funding at unprecedented speed, and what it all signals for the next phase of the creator economy

TikTok Teams Up with Cameo

Through a new partnership with Cameo, creators can now sell personalized video messages without ever leaving the TikTok app.
Instead of sending fans off-platform to request and pay for content, TikTok is embedding the entire transaction flow directly into the feed, turning passive viewers into paying customers in just a few taps.
Creators can now add Cameo requests as a call-to-action on their content, while fans can discover and book personalized videos directly from the videos they are already watching.
For creators already using Cameo, this removes friction and increases conversion.
For everyone else, it creates a new revenue stream that requires no additional audience building, no new platform, and no extra distribution effort.
AI Startups Smash Funding Records

In just the first three months of 2026, companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, and Waymo raised a combined $297 billion.
This pace puts the industry on track to nearly triple last year’s already record-breaking funding totals, with A.I. now accounting for 81% of all startup investment.
The largest players are absorbing most of that capital.
OpenAI alone raised $122 billion, while Anthropic added $30 billion and xAI secured $20 billion, marking some of the largest private funding rounds ever recorded.
Investors are no longer treating A.I. as a risk. They are treating it as inevitable.
Entire categories, especially traditional SaaS companies, are now facing pressure as cheaper and more powerful A.I. tools threaten to replace their core products.
Some are already calling it the “SaaSpocalypse.”
What this means for digital creators
A.I. tools will get exponentially better and cheaper. Content creation, editing, scripting, and distribution will continue to accelerate, lowering the barrier to producing high-quality content at scale.
Competition will increase across every niche. As creation becomes easier, more creators will enter the market, making differentiation and brand identity more important than ever.
New monetization and content formats will emerge. Creators who adopt A.I. early will unlock entirely new types of content, workflows, and revenue streams before the rest of the market catches up.
The gap between companies building A.I. and everyone else is widening fast.
What’s Next for the Creator Economy

The creator economy is entering its next phase, and it is not about content alone. It is about who controls distribution, trust, and monetization.
The industry has already surpassed $200 billion, with projections pushing it past $1 trillion. But the real shift is structural. Audiences are no longer built by studios or networks. They are built by creators.
Consumers now rely more on creators than brands, making creators not just marketers, but the primary drivers of influence and purchasing decisions.
At the same time, the system around them is still fragmented.
Social platforms handle distribution. Brands control budgets. Talent managers handle deals. But no one owns the full stack.
The next generation of companies will unify social strategy, brand partnerships, and talent into a single system, turning creators into scalable media businesses.
Because creators are no longer just content producers. They are becoming IP.
