👋 Hey hey {{First Name|Creatorland Community}}!

Before we get into this week’s roundup, a quick update: the first collabs are already being submitted on Creatorland! Thanks to everyone who’s jumped in early.

Post Your Collab Before Launch

Want to grow your audience with your dream collaborators? Creatorland Collabs lets you pay creators to share your content, react to a video, join your podcast, or create something together. You can also get paid to join theirs.

We’re accepting submissions ahead of the full launch. Tell us what you want creators to do, who you’d like to work with, and what you’ll pay. We’ll review your collab and email you when it’s live. Submitting doesn’t charge your card.

Now, onto this week’s creator news.

Instagram’s Longer Videos

Instagram is giving creators more room to turn short clips into a path to full episodes. For podcasters, comedians, and educators, that could make an existing Instagram audience more valuable.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Instagram is testing Features, horizontal videos of up to 90 minutes, with select U.S. creators. Reels can link directly to the full video, keeping viewers on the platform.

Give each clip a reason to lead somewhere.

Start with a question, an unexpected moment, or a useful takeaway. Then make sure the full episode delivers on that opening and gives people a reason to keep watching.

The test is limited, and Instagram is working out individual deals with early creators. Existing sponsorships can carry over, and the company says the current arrangements do not require exclusivity.

If you get access, test episodes you already produce and track how viewers respond. Use retention and repeat viewing to decide whether longer Instagram videos deserve more production time.

What Your Creator Ads Are Worth

Brands are spending more to turn creator posts into paid ads. Writing in Forbes, Taylor Reilly points to an eMarketer forecast of $14.15 billion in U.S. spending on boosting creator posts in 2027.

For creators, that changes what a brand is buying: your content can keep working as advertising long after the original post reaches your audience. Price that additional use deliberately.

Why This Is Important for Digital Creators

  • Separate the post from the ad: Quote the content and organic post, then account for paid usage separately. Ask where the brand plans to run your work and what that additional distribution includes.

  • Put a time limit on usage: Define how long the ads can run, which platforms are covered, and what renewal costs. Treat requests for perpetual rights as a separate discussion about long-term value.

  • Protect the audience relationship: Make sure the campaign fits what people trust you for. Agree on how your content can be edited and reused before your face becomes part of a wider advertising campaign.

A sponsored post can open the door, but the usage rights determine how far your work travels. Make sure your fee reflects what the brand actually gets to use.

What Small Business Status Means for Creators

The Small Business Administration is making it easier to identify creator-led companies as businesses. Clearer classification could help creators explain their work to lenders and find support for growing their operations.

New guidance covered by Digiday places creator businesses under Motion Picture and Video Industries. Creators could already qualify for SBA programs; the change clarifies which industry classification to use when applying.

Eligible creators may be able to use SBA-backed financing for equipment, a studio, or hiring. Business development centers can also help with planning and bookkeeping. Access still depends on meeting each program’s requirements.

Recognition is only the beginning.

This is not automatic funding, and loans still have to be repaid. A proposed change to size standards remains pending, with the public comment period closing November 20. The details still matter for your business.

Start by organizing your revenue records, costs, and growth plans. Build the financial picture that shows how your creator business works. Then explore which support fits your needs before taking on debt or committing to a larger operation.
